Tune Tuesday: “Constellations”, Jack Johnson

Great tune here to get your mind right as we move towards summer. Jack Johnson claims to have written this song while surfing in California. I’m not much of an ocean guy myself, but I do like this tune. Hope it brings you positive energy and smiles across the miles. Cheers!

What songs are you jamming to today? I’d love to hear your thoughts.

Disclaimer – Obviously, I do not own this music. I’m just a fan.

InspirAviation: Deep Thoughts

On an early morning flight from Santa Ana, CA, recently, I was just about to fall into a deep sleep when I caught this view out of my window. What a ‘grand’ view! While I can’t quite confirm the location, we were about 30 minutes to the flight…heading east…so my guess is this the northern part of Grand Canyon National Park, just west of Tuba City, AZ. Wherever this was, it was an absolutely breathtaking sight – needless to say I couldn’t fall asleep after seeing this beautiful part of our country.

Tune Tuesday: “Somebody That I Used To Know,” Gotye (Live on JKL)

The power of social media can create business relationships, spark friendly debate, and help share interests you might never have found any other way. I credit this week’s Tune Tuesday to my pal Christina, who I met on a plane, but have connected with through multiple social media channels. She posted this song on her Google+ account, and from the first moment I heard it, I was hooked. How could it have been that I’d never heard of Gotye? If you haven’t, here you go…you can thank me later.

April Fools Jokes: What Did YOU Do This Year?

While my wife and I never really intend to pull pranks on our 6 (soon to be 7) year old, this year, we thought it would be fun to tread lightly into the April Fool’s Day arena.

Over breakfast, we told Joey: “Okay, seeing as how it’s the first day of April, we’re going to unplug your Wii and sell it to another family.” This obviously caught him by surprise, and his response was pretty classic: “Wha…wha…what? You’re gonna sell…my…Wii?!?” We let it ride for a few minutes, but then let him down before his emotions got the best of him. “April Fools!!” my wife and I both yell.

For the rest of the day, just about everything we said was finished with the same line. “Let’s go to Home Depot — April Fools! We’re going to Menard’s instead”…”Time for dinner, let’s have pierogies! — April Fools, how about cheesy noodles?”…it was fun, and to a 6 year old, that sort of stuff never gets old.

So, what pranks did you pull? I saw a buddy of mine announce he and his wife were pregnant on Facebook, while others re-posted various stunts they saw online. Would love to hear what you did!

Tune Tuesday: “Volare”, Dean Martin

I remember a time when my oldest sister listened to Dean Martin a lot. At the time, I couldn’t quite wrap my head around his music. However, being older and wiser (I did just turn 34), I find his voice and pacing to me tremendous. Easy to see why he was so beloved as a performer. Enjoy this live version of “Volare”!

InspirAviation: Bright Light, Short Flight

One of my favorite blogs, AviationQueen.com (written by the incomparable Benet J. Wilson), always posts a weekly aviation photo. These tend to be shots of unique liveries, places, or perspectives Benet has enjoyed over her years of covering aviation related events. I always get inspired to want to travel whenever I visit her site, so I thought I’d post a photo I captured yesterday morning looking out from my office window. As the sun was rising over Eastern Minnesota, a single little CRJ-200 was just seconds away from landing at Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport.

So, as a tribute to all the greatly inspiring photos Benet posts, I wanted to start a weekly (or something like that) post I’ll call InspirAviation. Hope you like this as much as I do!
